HIS WILL, MY WAY – GIFT IRABOR (ep1)
EPISODE 1
When people tell the stories of how they met their soulmates, there’s always a chorus of awws, especially when it ends beautifully.
Everyone loves such stories—I do too. But must I kiss all the frogs in the well before I can find my prince charming? Carissa sighed, exasperated.
“Why is it so difficult to find a brother who loves God and keeps His commandments?” she lamented.
Today, you meet someone who claims to be a fellow believer—a brother in Christ. He invites you to spend time together. You agree, hoping this one would be different. But soon, you are rudely awakened by his disregard for moral standards.
“Brother Andrew, why do we quote almost all the commandments in the Bible but conveniently ignore the
part that says, ‘Thou shalt not fornicate’? What is the problem, really?”
That was the very question she had asked the so-called brother in Christ who had been pestering her for a date—one she had reluctantly accepted.
Everything had started well until their conversation took a more serious turn.
Brother—as she now referred to him—had asked about her views on sex. He wanted to know if it was wrong to indulge occasionally, not fully, just touching, you know.
She was stunned.
Was he really asking that?
She had already told him her stance on sex before marriage, as instructed by the Holy Book: The bed
undefiled till marriage. She’d even spoken about the painful consequences that came with sexual sins. She had been clear.
But it didn’t sit well with Brother. His defence?
She wasn’t a virgin, so those things no longer applied to her or other non-virgins like her.
She was completely baffled.
So, because she was no longer a virgin, she shouldn’t strive to maintain her purity after turning over a new leaf?
There was nothing more to say. Continuing the conversation with him would only be a waste of words.
She quietly picked up her handbag, excused herself, walked out, got into her car, and sped off into the distance.
“I told you not to honour his invitation, didn’t I?”
The gentle voice of her best friend—the Holy Spirit—echoed within her.
“Dear Holy Spirit, You did. I’m sorry I disobeyed You. I just thought that since he seemed to be consistent with Your works, he would be different. But now I realise I was wrong.”
“Not all who profess their love for Me with their mouths feel the same in their hearts. There are many wolves among My flock, parading themselves as sheep. You must be very careful,” the Holy Spirit lovingly warned.
“I will. Thank You for forgiving me.”
“You are welcome, Carissa,” came His ever-gentle response.
When she got home, she heaved a deep sigh of relief and gently pushed the unpleasant date experience aside.
To be continued…
